Updated School Calendars

Hello,

What wild and unpredictable winter weather we experienced last week! Thank you for your patience as we made the difficult decision to close school for four days.

Several factors impact our decision to close schools:

  • Current weather conditions, short term forecasted weather conditions, long term forecasted weather conditions
  • Road conditions
  • School conditions
  • Conditions around adverse weather bus stops
  • Conditions for our buses
  • Conditions for our staff to get work safely
  • Bur first and foremost the safety of our students, staff and parents determines whether we close or not.

These four school closures dates will impact our school calendar. The updated calendar is attached for your reference.  Please note that this calendar could still be subject to change, particularly if further days are lost due to inclement weather.

Summary of Changes:

Secondary Calendar Semester Changes

  • NO Secondary Early Release:                                                                                      January 27
  • NEW Secondary End of Semester/Early Release:                                               February 3
  • NEW Secondary Second Semester Begins:                                                           February 6

Snow Make Up Days (four days lost)

  1. NEW Regular School Day/No staff in-service (make up for 1/17)                 February 6
  2. NEW Regular School day (make up 1/18)                                                               May 25
  3. NEW Regular school day (make up 1/19):                                                              June 21
  4. NEW LAST DAY OF SCHOOL/K-12 Early Release (make up 1/20)                   June 22
Secondary Changes
  • NEW AMS Moving Up:                                                                                                   June 21
  • NEW AHS Graduation:                                                                                                   June 20

Cancelled - Join the ANACORTES READS Campaign

Due to the weather conditions, this event has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

 

The Anacortes School District and the Anacortes Public Library invite you to join us in our quest for the All - America City Grade-Level Reading Award.

Our goal is to have all children school ready and reading at grade-level by third grade.

We need your help, ideas and suggestions to create award-winning educational opportunities for all Anacortes children.

COMMUNITY WIDE ACTION PLANNING MEETING
Wednesday January 18th
7:00pm to 8:30pm

Anacortes Chamber of Commerce Banner Contest


The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce is seeking two banner designs generated by students in grades 1st through 8th in the Anacortes School District that will be installed on 24 uptown banners in April 2012. The designs should be vibrant and should celebrate our marine heritage. They will be transformed to a 96” x 30” vinyl banner for display for a number of years.
